Annual Labor Day Picnic
The annual Labor Day picnic has come and gone for 2007. I am sure everyone had a good time and why not with great weather and food. Bill Horoszko and Ron Sassaman did a great job of cooking brats and wieners and to all that brought those wonderful dishes to pass a big thank you, much appreciated.
One of the clubs neighbors won the 50/50 raffle, $54.00. The club also took in $10.00 for the Christmas raffle.
A lot of flying today by anyone wanting to fly. The wind didn't bother anything as far as flying and I am sure it got up to at least 85 today and plenty of sun.
One could no have ordered a more perfect day for a picnic. We had several neighbors to attend and that is what it is all about, getting together.
Charles Gibbens put a great tribute to the clubs veterans and to the flag that Mike Krizsanitz had dedicated in Iraq. Charles called off each veterans name and rang the bell for each veterans name that was called out in honor of each veterans service to his country. I must say the ceremony was very touching and well done. It was very obvious that Charley did a lot of research and the ceremony was well received by all.
The veterans in attendance were the following:
Elmer Baneck, Elwin Bushue, Don Claude, Chuck Crumbacher, Richard Krizsanitz, Jake Papini, Alex Mondo, Ron Sassaman, Richard Secrest, Ted Stone and Bud Trapp.
The veterans not in attendance was Denis Bielick, Allen Bryant, John Hennessy, Dale Hindenburg, John Kaminky, Doug Lewis, John McCue, John Ryan, and Jim Satterlee.
Jim Satterlee made the plaque that held the names of the veterans that stood at the base of the flag pole. It is made of American Walnut and it very beautiful and looks great. Jim did a great job of constructing it.
The club had 68 committed to attend and we got 70 to attend the picnic. I believe this to be the largest picnic that the club has held.
