2008 Labor Day Annual Picnic
Man O man did we ever have a great Annual Picnic and perfect weather!!
The wind was no factor, the sun was shinning and the temperature due to the low humidity felt very good to the skin if you could find shade and if out in the sun the sun was a little intense but not bad for August. Bill Horoszko and Ron Sassaman were doing their usual great job of grilling the brats and wieners.
Once again a big thank you to the families that brought dishes to pass. Also a big thank you to all that brought coolers full of ice for the water. We went through a lot of water today and soda. It was so great to see the junior members Blake Bushue, Daniel Gianinni, and Nicolas Stevens flying. They are doing great and some day all three are going to be in the club as club officers I am sure.
Larry Hickey got recognition for his dedication to the club through the years. Larry and Don Claude single handily completed the preparation of the flying field at the present location.
The club was blessed to have Jim Satterlee present today. He was the clubs first elected president February 2nd 1969. Leonard Lynch was elected Vice President and Dale Hindenburg was elected Sec/Treasurer. Dick Secrest was also on hand and he was one of the founding members of the club. There was 14 names submitted to be considered for the name of the club and the name that was selected was, Kishwaukee R/C Flyers. This name stuck. At one time when the club lost its flying fields the club got down to 13 members.
The Kishwaukee R/C Flyers are blessed to have a fine membership, a great flying field, thanks to Kenneth and Irene Nelson.
Once again it was a great day to fly and a the club had a great turn out of neighbors and friends and some from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
