On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, 60 students from the Hinckley-Big Rock 429 CUSD school system came out to the Hinckley airport where five members of our Club, Ted Stone, Dick Secrest, Denny Stiles, Al Kleinstiver and yours truly, along with the sponsors of the event the Windy City Soaring Association, who provided a show and tell about their full scale aircraft, helped with educating them about RC aircraft and aerodynamics as part of their STEM program,

NELSON FIELD IS OPEN FOR THE 2024 FLYING SEASON...with a word of caution

To all Kishwaukee RC Flyers....

With the weather looking fantastic, and the winds today quickly drying out the ground, your Kishwaukee RC Flyers Club Officers have agreed that it's time to:

OPEN NELSON FIELD FOR THE 2024 FLYING SEASON!!!

We want to make sure that when the weather conditions are right everyone can get their flying season started without delay.

You are asked to watch the ground when you drive on it, and if it appears that you're making deep ruts, try and avoid any further egress and park back by the mower shed.

NELSON FIELD IS NOW FAA FRIA APPROVED

We have received notification from the FAA that Nelson Field, our home field, is now FAA FRIA APPROVED!!!!!

What does this mean....?

If/when you are flying at Nelson Field, you will not require individual RFID devices in your aircraft for identifying them while in the air to the FAA

This is a huge win for us, as otherwise there would have been no small amount of cost to comply with the FAA RFID rule shown below:
